● REGION 01 · TRADING CARDS — CHAPTER 03

YU-GI-OH! the fastest game in cards.

One turn can end a duel. Learn to read the chain, choose your monsters' attributes, and chase the rarest foils in the hobby. Three doors into the storm.

▸ THE SIX ATTRIBUTES

Almost every monster answers to one of six attributes — and the two the cards name most often are the light and the dark.

No attribute beats another. Nothing in the rules makes LIGHT strong against DARK — attribute matters because cards name it: the monsters that banish one LIGHT and one DARK to summon something bigger, the decks built on a single attribute end to end. Read it first and a card's company starts to show — which is where door one begins.

◆ LIGHT AND DARK ARE THE TWO THE CARDS NAME MOST. A SEVENTH, DIVINE, IS RESERVED FOR THE EGYPTIAN GODS.

▸ THE ONE RULE THAT CATCHES EVERYONE

The chain resolves backwards.

Each card you add sits on top of the last. When neither player adds anything more, the stack unwinds from the top down — so the last card played is the first to happen.

4 PLAYED LAST Your opponent's final answer lands on top of everything else. RESOLVES FIRST
3 PLAYED THIRD You answer them back. The stack keeps growing upward. RESOLVES SECOND
2 PLAYED SECOND Your opponent responds. Their card sits on top of the first. RESOLVES THIRD
1 PLAYED FIRST The card that started it all, sitting at the bottom of the stack. RESOLVES LAST

"Secret rares are the most faked cards in the hobby, and Yu-Gi-Oh! has the most of them. A real foil rolls the light like water. A fake just glitters. Learn the difference before you pay."
