How To: Gaming
THE HOW TO CO. — EDITION 10
One Piece is the rare card game that hands you something every time it hurts you. Learn the shape of a turn, learn what DON!! actually buys, and the rest is just practice.
Your Leader carries a Life value, and that many cards go face-down beside it at the start. Every time your Leader takes a hit, the top one of those goes into your hand. You are not losing hit points. You are being paid, slowly, for losing.
If the top Life card has a Trigger, you may use that effect immediately and for free on the way past. Which is also why the player down to one life is often holding more answers than the player still on four.
Four of them are bookkeeping and happen to you. The fifth is the game.
The width above is the point. A turn is short and it is nearly all Main Phase — the other four exist to tell you what you have to work with when you get there.

“Buy one starter deck and play it into the ground before you buy anything else. You will learn more from losing twenty games with a bad deck than from owning a good one.”READ: HOW TO TRADE UP WITHOUT BURNING FRIENDS →
